Everything in my life has contributed to the person I am today. The hardships my family has gone through, my faith, and the university I chose to attend, have all impacted my life in a positive way. And this, I believe, is important in pursuing a job that I will be passionate about, one which is everything I have worked towards, and one that can lead to change. I believe in the power of books, and would feel it an honor to be involved in the publishing process, and to one day go through that process myself.
I grew up in a small town, where barbeque was the major draw and community was of great importance. Everyone knew everyone and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I always had people and family that I could rely on in times of need. I was raised valuing the community I was part of and happily giving back in any way that I could. During my time at TCU I have sought out opportunities to give back to my community in different ways, whether that be through volunteering or getting to know the members of my school community. |
Another thing that has always been important was valuing the natural world. I believe in having a respect for the environment and that everyone should take an active role in it's protection. Throughout my time at TCU I have been an active member of the TCU Environmental Club. For two years I held a leadership position and coordinated several on campus and off campus events. Beyond that I have taken several classes that have challenged me to maintain a sustainable lifestyle.
Even though I am an introvert, helping others has always been a priority. I am an active listener and give constructive critiques of fellow student works. When editing the papers of other students, I give them not only what needs to be fixed but suggest ways in which they might enhance their works. This would transfer well to editing works that are going through the
process of being published. |
